Stampin'B's Challenge #32

Hi all, the hostess for today's challenge is NR/NancyRuth. Thanks NR for the terrific challenge.

We are to make anything but a card.

Last week I noticed that one of the Christmas tutorials was for a Luminaria. I decided to do one but not with a kit.

The dimensions are:

2 pieces of 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" in white, I used 120lb. CS for weight. Score at 4" and 8" this will leave a small 1/2" flap to attach the pieces together.

2 pieces of 1" X 8 1/2" in light green, you do not need to score these yet

4 large outer Nestie Ovals - 1 medium plain and 1 large scallop

2 different edge punches

4 pieces of Vellum cut to 3 7/8" by 5" or just big enough to cover your die cut oval

glue or double sided tape

1 suitable image

inks or markers to colors

glitter embossing/Winter Wonderland

Using your CB you will cut 2 ovals in each of the white pieces, center the ovals in each of the folded sections.

Now you need to cut the scallop trim using 2 dies, the same one you used for the oval cut and a size larger scallop oval. You can put these on a piece of light green CS. You can then leave the dies in and embelish them.

These decorator scallops can now be glued to the outside of your oval cuts in the white panels. Make sure that you lay your pieces one 1/2" edge of your white CS on the right side and the other on the left side. This detail will be important when you assemble the Luminaria

Take your 2 pieces of CS in the white and the light green strips, you use a different punch for each. I used a MS punch on the 2 white pieces and a SU punch on the 2 light green pieces.

Attach the light green to the inside of the top section of the white punched section so that the white overlaps the light green.

Again make sure that you have your white pieces are facing the right way.

Fold all of your score lines, attach some double sided tape to the 1/2" fold and attach it to the straight edge of the other piece forming a box like shape.

Stamp your image 4 times, color and emboss with glitter EP "optional".

Cut out and attach with pop-ups for dimension.

I hope you enjoy my Luminaria, I chose to make it bigger and decorate it on all sides to use as a center piece. I used 2 battery tea lights inside and covered the flash when taking the photo so that you can see the lights reflection.

All of the papers used are from Marks Finest Papers found here: www.marksfinestpapers.com
