Challenge card for the SCS_TLC227, Faux Burnt Edges.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was quiet and very rainy, so to cheer myself up I visited my favorite paper crafting store. Of course I bought something, a couple of new Spellbinders. Cheered me up right away....

This is my card for today's TLC227 Faux Burnt Edges at SCS.

For this card I used a beautiful and ethereal image of trees. I printed this image in Sepia on Very Vanilla cs. I tore the edges and sponged on some TH's Distress inks in shades of Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain. I love how this really does have that burnt edge effect.

The bg is Bazzil dark brown, Close to Cocoa and a script page. I attached the main image with some hardware brackets and the sentiment is computer generated and held with some hardware as well.

I love how this one turned out, I hope you do too? Let me know, I would love to hear....Nicole

Apopogy to Joanne Grzelak

I would like to apologize to Joanne Grelak. She is hosting today's Challenge at the Stampin'B's not Vicky.
Joanne challenge is to use Dry and Heat embossing.
Sorry, Nicole

Stampin'B's Friday "Follow the list" Challenge for Fridays June the 26th, 2009

This is for the Stampin'B's Design team "Follow the List" Challenge. The challenge is to do (dry and heat embossing) on your card.

The challenge was presented by our very own Vicky Gould today and all of the images used by all the team members in this challenge are by Sweet_n_Sassy/Owl Occasions set.

I made a 2,4,6,8 box for my little owl to sit on. The cs is Mellow Moss with a front panel of dp by Memory Box/Sugardrop. The flap of the box is cut and embossed with a Nestie Oval die on the CB. For the closure I punched two holes thru the box top and threaded a pretty white ribbon.

Now for the cute little owl, I first "dry embossed" a square of Very Vanilla with a Swiss Dots embossing folder. I stamped the owl in Chocolate Chip using the Thing-a-magig, reloaded my stamp with CC, Versamark and clear EP then "heat embossed" with hot gun.

I colored this little guy with copics, close cut and popped him up to look like he's sitting in the tree branches. To finish my owl I added some funny googly eyes.

I made a sentiment tag from the same Sweet n Sassy set using CC, Versamark and heat embossing it. I used a scrap piece of the Swiss Dots VV. Matted it in Mellow Moss. I attached it to the closing flap with an eyelet.

SO, pop on over to the Stampin'B's blog and play along, we love having you join in! HERE IS THE LINK: www.stampinbdesignteam.blogspot.com

Have great weekend, Nicole

BE_SC234_Heartfelt Sympathy

This is my card for today's SCS_SC234 challenge.
This is a sympathy card that I've made for a friend.
The sketch today is a great one and easy to work with.
The dp's are by DCWV and the stack is called La Creme. I love this paper and have used it quite a few times.
The card stock is SU Barely Banana and Bazzil black.
The sentiment is from a SU set called Warmest Regards.
To finish this simple card I just added a beautiful black satin ribbon.
I need to say that I am very frustrated these days. Everyday on SCS the day befores cards is deleted from my gallery.
This means that I loose this card from my gallery and all of the wonderful comments that everyone takes time to make.
I am extra careful at naming my cards and make sure that the code is correct.
I'm at my witts end and don't know what to do. I'm scare to go and look at my gallery for fear that another card has been deleted.
I've sent a contact us message to SCS and I sure hope that someone answers it.
Sorry for all of the venting, but I am really getting angry at this problem.
Hugs, Nicole

Challenges_CC224_FTT21

This is my card for the SCS_CC224 challenge and Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTT21 challenge.

The colors for today's CC224 are Only Orange, Pacific Point and Summer Sun. I used a set from Flourishes called Summer Blossoms.

For the image I inked the stamp of the flowers with Only Orange and YoYo Yellow then spritzed on some water and stamped onto some hot pressed watercolor paper. I then masked the image and inked up the leaves in Mellow Moss and Gable Green, spritzed and stamped over the masked flowers.

The sketch for this card is from Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge. I really love this sketch and I enjoyed using it with the CC224 colors.

To finish my card I added some gem brads and a felt heart.

I hope you like this one?

Hugs as always, Nicole

My daughter Sheila's wedding....

These are two pictures from my daughter Sheila and her new husband Alan's wedding. The maid of honor is also my daughter, Terri. The ring bearer is my Grandson Bailey.

The first picture is of Chuck and I.

The day turned from raining and gloomy, to sunny and bright, just in time for the ceremony and taking pictures. I think that Sheila was a picture perfect bride in her beautiful dress.

Thanks for dropping by, Nicole

Poppies Galore!!

I just had to share my beautiful poppies with you. They are my favorite flowers and when I planted these they didn't bloom for three years, I had almost given up on them. Now 8 years later and they are gorgeous, the plant is getting bigger every year so that means more poppies for me to admire.
Same with the Split Leaf Japanese Maple, we bought it as a plant that the grower said would not survive the Winter. "Well look at her now", I know she is a her because of her flowing beauty. She is now about 4' wide and growing.

Nicole's Stampin'B's Challenge for 06_19_09 Watercoloring

This is my watercolor for the challenge at the Stampin'B's blogspot found here: www.stampinbsdesignteam.blogspot.com come and join us in our Friday challenges. I promise you will have fun.

For this little watercolor I used an image by Penny Black_Whispered Wishes. The watercolor paper is 200lb weight by Cotman. I used SU re-inkers as my watercolor medium. It works really well and is easy to manipulate.

The cardstock is Tempting Turqoise which I picked-up from the beautiful Iris's in the image. I just added a sentiment and kept the rest simple.

I hope you like this watercolor card. Thanks for visiting and do come again.

Hugs and wishing you a wonderful weekend, Nicole

Nicole's WT223 challenge_ 3rd card in set

SCS_WT223 Texting Challenge.
Good morning, this is the 3rd card in the series for this cute Penny Black clear stamp set. There are 2 more images that I've not used, so I think there will be 2 more cards coming. LOL
I used SU re-inkers on Whisper White to color the image, the cs is Whiper White, Ruby Red, Baja Breeze and the dp's are Basic Grey_Lime Rickey.
The texting in my card is the script embossing in the WW bg panel.
All of the cards in this set will feature the same stamp set "different images" and the same papers. The sketches are different in each one with slight variations.
Hope you will stick around and see the whole set.
Hugs, Nicole

Nicole_SC233_Wish Big!!

Hi everyone, this card is for the SC233 challenge at SCS. I love the sketch but because I did a booboo I had to flip it. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it before I took a really close look at the sketch, in the original position I would have covered the sentiment.

You will notice a similarity between yesterdays and today's cards. I loved the colors and images on this stamp set so much that I decided to make a gift set using these colors and stamp set.

The stamp set is by Penny Black. The colors are Whisper White, Ruby Red, Baja Blue and the dp's are by Basic Grey/Lime Rickey. I love the fun patterns in this stack. For the watercoloring I used SU re-inkers and a small artist brush and then added some Crystal effects to the balloon, gift and bouquet. For a finish I added some brads in Earth Tones.

Glad you came by, hope that you like my work and will visit again.

BE|_CC23 Challenge_Is it ready Yet!

I loved the colors that were chosen for today's CC23 at SCS.

I used a stamp set by Penny Black and stamped it twice onto Whisper White in India ink/black. I used re-inkers to water color with and a silver for the spoon. The cherries were colored twice and then the extra one was close cut to add to the image for an out of the box look.

The sketch for this card was last weeks SC232, the dp's are Basic Grey/Lime Rickey. I also cb embossed the bg with the Bloom Dots folder.

I really like watercoloring, so this was lots of fun for me.

I hope you get a giggle out of this cute image and sentiment.

Hugs, Nicole

Dream a Little Dream/SCS Challenge FS123

Hi guys, well the arrangements for Sheila and Alan's wedding are finally in order. Next week is my daughter's big day. After this is over I can get back to the stampin' stuff which I've been sorely neglecting.

This is my card for the SCS FS123 challenge. The feature stamper this week is Roseanne/Sumtoy.

This is the card that I chose to case: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1304771?cat=500&ppuser=90220

I changed the color, the stamp imgages and the embelishments. I like this card so I made only a few changes. It looks very different though.

The butterfly images are from Flourishes/Butterfly Moments, the sentiment are from Stampabilities, the sticker flower I purchase at the dollar store, the cs is Basic Black and the dp is by DCWV/LA CREME matstack.

I love how this turned out but I could not seem to get a good photo of it.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will come by again soon, Nicole

Today's SCS/WT222 Crinkled Card challenge.

For this card I used a sentiment by Cloud9 Design and used Versafine/Sepia as my ink.

The first layer is made up of More Mustard, Summer Sun and DP/Once Upon a Time mat stack by DCWV.

The crinkled flower was first die cut with 3 Cuddle Bug dies in different size flower shapes. These were made with More Mustard, Summer Sun and Apricot Appeal. Crinkled and assembled. The leaf is a sticker by KC & COMPANY and to finish this flower I added a small button brad to the center. I punched 2 holes and threaded a beautiful satin ribbon to make the bow.

Thanks for visiting, Nicole

Dream a Little Dream

First I would like to say how much I've missed everyone..... I've not made one card for over a week and the withdrawals were terrible.
This is my card for the SCS - CC222 challenge to make a one layer card using just white card stock.
I chose to use this cute little image from HM called Just Dandy and the matching sentiment.
I used Copics to color and that is pretty much it.
I hope that you like this little guy.....
